Your account and bookmark

We keep your email address, a protected password hash, account confirmation, and reading progress so you can sign in and continue across devices. Reading progress includes chapters opened, paragraphs bookmarked, whether the end was reached, and the days you read. It remains until you delete your account or request its removal. Unconfirmed registrations are removed after seven days.

Cookies and this device

Essential cookies keep you signed in, protect forms, and help estimate visits. The sign-in cookie lasts for the WordPress session, or up to 14 days when you choose to stay signed in. A browser identifier lasts up to 24 hours. Text-size preferences and an unsent bookmark may be stored on your device. Signing out clears local reading data on the device where you sign out.

Private readership statistics

The author sees aggregate visits, registrations, active and returning readers, chapter starts and endings, and referring domains. A chapter ending means its end was reached; it does not prove every word was read. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. The account system necessarily holds individual bookmarks; they are not displayed in the aggregate insights dashboard.

Security and email

Your email is used for account confirmation and password recovery. This site does not automatically add you to a mailing list. Temporary salted identifiers help limit abusive requests and expire after their protection window. The hosting and email providers process requests and messages to operate the website, and may keep their own service logs, including IP addresses.

Your choices

From your account page you can download your reading data or permanently delete your account and personal progress. Anonymous aggregate counts remain. Copies in hosting backups remain until those backups expire and are not used for active reading services.
